An Elevation Certificate is a federal form used to document a structure's elevation and the floodplain elevation which helps ensure compliance with community floodplain management ordinances, determines the proper insurance premium rate, or supports a request for a Letter of Map Amendment. You will need a state-licensed professional such as a surveyor, engineer, or architect to sign and seal the Elevation Certificate.

Who Needs an Elevation Certificate?

If you live in a high-risk flood zone, you should provide an Elevation Certificate to your insurance agent to obtain flood insurance and ensure that your premium accurately reflects your risk. Obtaining an Elevation Certificate also can help you make decisions about rebuilding and mitigation after a disaster.

Why do I need to buy an Elevation Certificate?
